What is Google Contacts?

Google Contacts is an online top for storing and managing contact information. It is a free service provided by Google that was introduced in 2006.Google Contacts allows the user to store all their contacts in one place, which is accessible from any device with access to the Internet.  The user has to sign in using his Gmail ID to use this service.To add a new contact, the user can either do it manually or import the contact details from an existing address book in the desktop or mobile app (iPhone, Android etc..To set up Google Contacts, the user has to visit  https://contacts.google.com/about  and sign in using his Gmail account.C. Freshdesk is a cloud-based customer support software for small and medium-sized businesses. It enables companies to provide personalized support on the web, via email and through Facebook and Twitter for their customers. The company claims that their software platform can handle more than 1 million tickets a month with their current infrastructure.In their own words, "Freshdesk provides a single platform to manage all your customer support needs, whether your users are having problems logging into your website, or you need to know who's attending your conference."

Integration of Google Contacts and Freshdesk

Google Contacts and Freshdesk have been integrated in order to conspidate and simplify contact management for users of the two products. With this integration, users can easily get a list of their contacts from Google Contacts and send them emails without creating an account on Freshdesk. This integration also allows users to add Freshdesk contacts to their Google Contacts list. Here are the steps to integrate Google Contacts with Freshdesk:

  • Go to  https://admin.freshdesk.com/support/connections/google-contact  and click on "Connect with Google".
  • On the next page, enter your Google login credentials.
  • Once the connection is established, the page will reload with a list of all your Google Contacts.
  • For each contact you want to add to you Freshdesk account, check the box besides its name and click on "Add Selected" at the bottom of the page.
