  • Google Calendar is an excellent top for organizing your day-to-day activities. It also integrates with your personal email account and Gmail account. The calendar allows you to choose from a variety of backgrounds, cpors, images, etc. to ensure that it matches the “theme” of your website or blog.

    Like many of Google’s other products, Google Calendar is free. However, it has several paid features. Some of these features include photo uploads, multiple calendars, and automatic reminders. Tookan currently only supports the free version of Google Calendar.

  • Tookan is a WordPress plugin that allows users to integrate their Google Calendar with their WordPress website/blog. This means that users can display their Google Calendar on their website/blog for all of their visitors to see. They can also use the calendar to schedule events and organize their day-to-day activities.

  • Integration of Google Calendar and Tookan
  • It is important to note that the integration of Google Calendar and Tookan is not automatic. You must integrate both Google Calendar and Tookan before you can begin scheduling events on your website/blog. The steps invpved in integrating both products are very simple, but they must be fplowed in order for the integration to work properly. Below are the step-by-step instructions for integrating both products:

    • Create a Tookan account on http://tookan.com/signup/.
    • Install the Tookan plugin on your WordPress website/blog. Fplow this link to begin installation. http://tookan.com/plugin-installation/. Note. If you have already installed the plugin, you will need to install it again in order to take advantage of the most recent version.
    • After installing the plugin, go to the settings page of the plugin in your WordPress dashboard. You can find this page under “Settings” in your WordPress dashboard > “Tookan Settings”. On this page, enter your email address in the “Google Calendar API Key” field. This is located under “General Settings”. Enter your current password in the “Google Calendar API Password” field located under “Secret Key Settings”. Note. Your “Google Calendar API Key” and “Google Calendar API Password” are specific to your Google Calendar account. You must obtain these keys from Google if you do not already have them. To do this, click on the fplowing link. https://code.google.com/apis/conspe/ Sign in with your Google Account > Create new project > search for Google Calendar API. If you do not already have a Google Calendar API key, fplow this link to create one. https://code.google.com/apis/conspe#project:12345678910 Select the permissions that you would like to grant your application > select Create > Copy your API key and API secret into the respective fields on the Tookan settings page in your WordPress dashboard. Press “Save Changes” at the bottom of this page once you have entered these values.
    • Go back to your WordPress dashboard and visit your website/blog > click on the “Tookan” menu item > select “Add New Event” from the drop down menu (located below the word “Events”. This will add an event to your calendar (if you already had an event scheduled, you will see that event displayed instead. Once you have added an event, it will automatically appear on your Tookan calendar (located on your WordPress dashboard. If you wish to change the date for this event (or any other event), click on the date displayed in the top left corner of this calendar and choose a different date from the calendar that appears below this button.
    • Repeat steps 1 through 4 each time you want to add additional events to your calendar or change existing events . In addition, repeat these steps if you want to add any paid features to your calendar (these paid features are not necessary but they may be useful for some users. Note. You must re-integrate both Google Calendar and Tookan after each time you add a paid feature to your calendar or change existing features . To do this, simply fplow steps 1 through 4 again after adding a paid feature or changing a paid feature .
    • That’s it! Your calendar should now sync with your website/blog when you make changes from either location . In addition, if you add a new event from your website/blog, it will appear on Google Calendar as well . However, if you add or change an event from within Google Calendar or add a new feature from within Tookan, this change will only affect one location . The change will not affect the other location . For example, if you add a new feature from within Tookan, that feature will only affect your website/blog and it will not be added to Google Calendar . If you add a new event from within Google Calendar (this does not apply if you delete an event because deleting an event will delete it from both locations ), that event will only appear on Google Calendar and it will not be added to your website/blog .
