Using outlines can help us to focus on the key points that we need to include in our article. It also helps to organize our thoughts. This is why I find it useful to write articles in outline form first.

How to Write an Essay Outline Step 2. Create an Introduction

We have now created an outline for our article, but there are still some steps before we begin writing. If you are not sure where to start, let’s talk about how to create an introduction for your article.

Writing an introduction can be a little tricky because you want to capture your reader’s attention right away. What point are you trying to make What do you want your reader to remember You want to create an introduction that will grab their attention and make them want to continue reading. So here are some tips for writing a great introduction for your articles.

First, think about what your introduction should accomplish. What point are you trying to make What exactly do you want your readers to remember Next, write down 2-3 sentences that introduce your topic and explain your main point. These sentences will help you figure out the tone and style of your article. You can use these sentences as a reference when you begin writing. Finally, memorize your introduction so you don’t have to flip back and forth between your outline and your article while you’re writing.

How to Write an Essay Outline Step 3. Create an Argument

Now that we have created our introduction, we need to create an argument for our article. An argument is basically a claim that you are making about a particular topic. For example, if you were writing about Harry Potter, your claim would be – Harry Potter is a great book series – and we call this a thesis statement.

If we were going to argue against this claim, we would say – Harry Potter is not a great book series – and this would be our thesis statement. But we’re not going to argue against Harry Potter today! We’re going to talk about how to write an argument about something else; like living in New York City or the advantages of online gaming. Your argument can be whatever you want it to be as long as it makes sense and has evidence backing it up.

Arguments have two parts. the evidence and the conclusion sentence. Evidence is anything that supports your claim. When you write an article, you want your readers to understand why you believe what you believe. This is where evidence comes in. Evidence shows your readers how you came up with your conclusion or thesis statement. Evidence can be facts, statistics, examples, opinions, personal experience, etc. To find evidence for your topic, ask yourself – what is my evidence

In order for evidence to be good evidence, it must be relevant and convincing. Relevant means that it has something to do with your topic. You can’t just write – I believe in aliens – as your evidence for why living in New York City is dangerous! It needs to be more specific than that! And convincing means that it will persuade your audience or change their mind about a topic they disagree with. This doesn’t mean that you have to convince them they’re wrong – it just means that they will understand why you think they’re wrong!

Conclusion sentences are the last part of your argument and they end with a period or a question mark depending on what kind of article you are writing. In an expository article, the conclusion sentence contains the main idea of your article and tells your readers what they should know at the end of the article. The conclusion sentence is similar to the thesis statement but different in one important way. The thesis statement is used in argumentative and persuasive articles whereas the conclusion sentence is used in expository and narrative articles.

So now that we know what all goes into our argument, let’s go ahead and write one! Here is an example argument sentence. I strongly believe that life in New York City is dangerous because of its high crime rate and lack of law enforcement officers on the streets.
