Integration of GitLab and SMS Alert

GitLab?

GitLab Inc. is a company based in San Francisco, Califonia. It provides a cloud-based hosting service of Git repositories and has an open-source community version of the software which is also open to the public. GitLab is a source code management system that is alternative to the popular GitHub.

SMS Alert?

SMS Alert is an application by IFTTT that allows users to send text messages from their phone or computer to other people when an action occurs with devices such as Nest, Philips Hue, Dropcam and many more. For example, when a user leaves their home and their smart lock turns on, they can automatically send a message saying “I left the house” to their family members.

Integration of GitLab and SMS Alert

GitHub has been a popular place for developers to host their projects. However, people that want to host smaller projects, or those who want to host their projects in a non-commercial environment have had less options. That is where GitLab has come in. GitLab began as an open source project that was launched in 2014. In 2015 GitLab began offering a paid service called GitLab Enterprise Edition (EE), which comes at a cost of $9/user per month for the smallest package. The free account provided for one private project per user, along with unlimited public projects. Recently, GitLab announced the launch of GitLab.com, a new online Git repository that allows anyone to create and cplaborate on projects without having to download and install any software. This means that this gives companies more options for how they want to manage their projects in terms of hosting and costs.

SMS Alert is an application that allows users to send text messages from their phone or computer to other people when an action occurs with devices such as Nest, Philips Hue, Dropcam and many more. For example, when a user leaves their home and their smart lock turns on, they can automatically send a message saying “I left the house” to their family members. As mentioned earlier, GitLab allows anyone who wants to use it for free to do so. So even if someone wanted to integrate SMS Alert into their GitLab project, they don’t need to pay for anything because it’s all free. The only thing they would need is a specific integration between SMS Alert and GitLab which is available in the form of an IFTTT recipe. The only other thing they would need is a paid subscription to GitLab’s EE or a premium account to GitLab.com in order to use any of the features provided by GitLab.

Benefits of Integration of GitLab and SMS Alert

With this integration, people can quickly send texts from their computers or phones whenever an event occurs. This could be used in many different ways, including managing smart home products such as lights, locks, etc., tracking kids while at schop or using it for work purposes. If someone were working on a project and wanted to receive immediate alerts about things like when their coworkers are editing tasks or branches, they could do so by using this integration. Another benefit of this integration is that all the SMS messages would still be recorded in the user’s activity log on the dashboard of their GitLab project. This will allow them to keep track of all the messages they sent using this integration. The last major benefit of this integration would be that some people may find it easier to talk through text instead of talking over the phone or face-to-face. Some people may prefer texting because it gives them more time to think about what they want to say and then take time to type it out instead of just talking right away and hoping that they say what they mean correctly. There is no disadvantage to this integration unless you don’t want your text messages being recorded anywhere on your work computer or phone. But those are just minor inconveniences which are not related to this integration specifically but rather using SMS alerts in general and communicating through text messages.

The process to integrate GitLab and SMS Alert may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
