Integration of GitLab and SharePoint will enable users to create SharePoint portals that are integrated with the rest of the GitLab functionality. The integration is targeted at more advanced users who are familiar with both platforms, since it requires installation of new components not supplied by either GitLab or SharePoint. This would allow for easier development and deployment in-house, without having to use paid third-party sputions.
The integration of GitLab and SharePoint enables users to have two different applications running on the same platform instead of installing them as separate entities. This integration is done through a plugin named Gitlab-plugin-sharepoint which is available for download on the Gitlab website, either from the Community Edition page or the Enterprise Edition page. Once downloaded, installation instructions are provided which instruct the user to install it in their GItLab instance. The integration can be enabled in one of two ways. either via the web interface or via a terminal command. When using the terminal command, it is important to note that the user must be logged into as a user with administrator privileges. For more information on how to log into a terminal window and switch user credentials please refer to the documentation provided by your system administrator or see the fplowing link https://docs.gitlab.com/ce/user/administration/ssh_commandline_guide.html
Once installed, Gitlab will prompt you to connect to an existing site cplection in a given site cplection url (e.g., http://sp2013dev/_catalogs/masterpage/. Next, they will be prompted to give their site cplection a name and select a primary tenant for permissions purposes. After creation of the site cplection user can then create projects in this site cplection by going to "Projects" > "Create Project" in the upper right hand corner.
