GitLab is a web-based software repository for managing source code. GitLab was started in 2011 by Dmitriy Zaporozhets and Valery Sizov. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California. Mailgun is a cloud based email service provider that offers customized sputions to email marketing and other email services. Mailgun was founded in 2009 by Kevin Smith and Jim Martin.
GitLab has a feature called webhooks where you can receive updates from external services through HTTP. This allows GitLab to integrate with an outside service such as Mailgun. In order for GitLab to send out emails using Mailgun, the user needs to install the plugin. For this example, we will be using Ruby, but it is possible to do using other languages as well. To install the plugin, you need to go to your project’s settings and then click on “+ Add new project service.” After that, select the type of service you want to connect to.
In this case, we are going to use Mailgun so we click on “Mailgun.” On the next screen, enter your information under the “Service Details” section. Then, click on “Save Service” in the top right corner. After saving the service, you will see your API key in the “Service Credentials” section. You will need this API key later on when integrating Mailgun into GitLab.
There are many benefits that come with integrating these two applications together. One benefit is that when users are creating issues in GitLab, they will be able to receive notifications about those issues through email. Another benefit that comes with using Mailgun in gitlab is that users will have the option of adding a subject line which allows them to better organize their emails instead of having to guess what the message is about. Another advantage of using Mailgun with GitLab is that if a user has multiple repos under one account, then all of those repos will be able to send emails through Mailgun. Lastly, integration of GitLab and Mailgun allows for users to be able to send out mass emails with ease because they don’t have to worry about having separate accounts for each one of their projects.
The process to integrate GitLab and Mailgun may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
