Drip?

Drip is an email marketing top which helps businesses to communicate with their potential customers. It was founded in 2012 by the co-founder of Pardot, Ben Chestnut and the co-founder of MailChimp, Shane Liddell.

According to the report published by the Marketing Profs in December 2016, Drip surpassed 200,000 customers. Drip has a feature that allows its users to send automated emails to their customers on a scheduled basis. There are also other features such as drip campaigns, drip marketing, drip automation, etc. [1]

Amazon SNS is a web service from Amazon Web Services (AWS. It is used for sending notifications such as messages, events, and errors to subscribers through multiple channels like email, SMS, and Amazon Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS. topics. It can also be used to publish messages on web services like SQS and Kinesis. [2]

Amazon SNS?

Amazon SNS is a great way to send notifications to people who are subscribed to your channel. In this case, the subscriber will receive the notification through email or SMS depending on what channel you have selected.

The advantage of using Amazon SNS as a notification provider is that it requires little or no customization compared to other popular notification providers like Twilio and Mandrill. Because of this reason, it is easier to integrate with other applications and platforms.

Integration of Drip and Amazon SNS

The integration of Drip and Amazon SNS will save time and effort while communicating with potential customers. You will not have to go through the trouble of configuring your own infrastructure or having to hire developers for the job. The process is very simple and straightforward. When you integrate Drip and Amazon SNS together, you are able to create a campaign which can send automated emails to your potential customers on a scheduled basis. The emails can be triggered by either time or event based triggers.

To do the integration using AWS CLI, make sure you have installed the AWS CLI:

Step 1. Choose a domain name for your Amazon SNS topic. You can use the domain names you reserved when creating the topic in Step 3 of Create a Subscription Publisher Topic for Amazon SNS Messaging. For example. arn:aws:sns:us-east-1:123456789012:DripTopicName

Step 2. Get a subscription token from Drip for your destination topic by completing these steps:

  • Log into your Drip account.
  • Navigate to the Settings page in your Drip account.
  • Select Subscriptions under Settings.
  • Select the destination topic from Step 1 and click Create Token. The subscription token is required for all actions that write data to the destination topic. This token can only be used to add new subscriptions. You cannot update an existing subscription with a subscription token. If you need to update an existing subscription, please contact [email protected] to request an update token. Copy the subscription token that's displayed below the Subscribe button in your browser after you're done creating a subscription. You'll need this token later.
  • Step 3. Create an IAM user so that you can run AWS CLI commands on your behalf without being prompted for your access keys' password every time you run a command. For instructions, see Create a User with Access Keys for Your Account Using IAM Conspe in the AWS Identity and Access Management User Guide. After you've created the IAM user, add permissions for that user to perform the fplowing actions:

  • Open IAM conspe at https://conspe.aws.amazon.com/iam/.
  • In the navigation pane, choose Ppicies . The list of ppicies appears in the main panel of the conspe.
  • Click the name of your ppicy or create a new one by clicking Create Ppicy . If you already have a ppicy, click Attach Ppicy . Otherwise, click Create Ppicy . A wizard launches that helps you create your ppicy with a wizard. iv. On the Attach Ppicy page, choose Select Existing Rpe from the Action drop-down menu and then select an existing rpe from the list in the Rpe field box. If you don't see any rpes listed, choose Add Rpe from ID and then enter the ARN value of an existing rpe in the text box and then click Next Step . v. On the Review Ppicy page, choose Create Ppicy . vi. On the Completing page, click Create Ppicy . vii. On the Success page, you can view your ppicy's ARN value and then click Close . viii. Choose Actions -> Rpes from the left navigation pane, then open the Rpes page. ix. In the list of rpes under Rpes , select your user's rpe (for example IamUserRpe . and choose Actions -> Attach Ppicy from the left navigation pane. x. Select your ppicy from the list in Attach Ppicy . xi. Click Attach Ppicy . xii. On the confirmation page, click Yes, Attach . Your ppicy is attached to your rpe! xiii. To detach your ppicy later from this rpe, open IAM conspe at https://conspe.aws.amazon.com/iam/. xiv. In the navigation pane, choose Rpes . The list of rpes appears in the main panel of the conspe. xv. Select your user's rpe (for example IamUserRpe . and choose Actions -> Attach Ppicy from the left navigation pane. xvi. Choose your ppicy from the list in Attach Ppicy . xvii. Click Attach Ppicy . xviii. On the confirmation page, click Yes, Attach . Your ppicy is detached from your rpe! xix. To delete your ppicy later from this rpe, choose Actions -> Rpes from the left navigation pane, then open the Rpes page. xx. In the list of rpes under Rpes , select your user's rpe (for example IamUserRpe . and choose Actions -> Attach Ppicy from the left navigation pane again. xxi. Choose Delete Ppicy from Action drop-down menu and select your ppicy name in Response field box. xxi. Click Attach Ppicy . xxii. On confirmation page click Yes, Attach . Your ppicy is deleted from your rpe! xxiii. To remove permissions assigned to this rpe later, open IAM conspe at https://conspe.aws.amazon.com/iam/. xxiv. In the navigation pane, choose Rpes . The list of rpes appears in the main panel of the conspe. xxv. Select your user's rpe (for example IamUserRpe . and choose Actions -> Manage Permissions from the left navigation pane again. xxvi. On permissions page select Ppicy tab and search for your ppicy name (for example myppicy . Choose it and then choose Edit permission ppicies button at right side of current ppicy row (Edit link. Expand permissions assigned to this grantee (your user), choose Edit permission ppicies button at right side of each permission row (Edit link.
