Downtime Alert?

Downtime Alert is a brand of Cloudwatch which helps monitor the uptime of servers. It works with Amazon Web Services (AWS. The product was launched in 2013 by Downtime Alert Inc., an American Cloud management company that specializes in managing customers’ cloud computing infrastructure.

Downtime Alert can be used to monitor many services, including but not limited to. EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, VPC, and Route 53. However, it cannot monitor other services such as Amazon ECS or Elastic Beanstalk.

The software provides automated alerts when a problem arises on any monitored AWS service. If a problem is detected, the software triggers a text message or email to notify the user. Users can also configure Downtime Alert to automatically take action and recover from problems.

How Integration of Downtime Alert and Chargebee Works?

Integration of Downtime Alert and Chargebee is simple and easy. There are 2 ways to integrate Downtime Alert and Chargebee. via API and via CSV upload. Here’s how each method works:

Method 1. Via API

Integration via API requires use of a third-party top called Zapier. We will use the free version of Zapier to make this integration possible. Once you have created an account with Zapier, you can start using it to integrate your apps. To integrate your apps, fplow these steps:

Step 1. Open your Zapier account.

Step 2. Select “Make a Zap!” in the upper left corner of the screen.

Step 3. Enter your Amazon Web Services credentials in the login screen. You will need to enter your username and password at this time.

Step 4. You will now be asked to create an API Key and Secret Key in order to connect to your AWS account. Click on “Create an API Key” button to create one. Copy the key into a safe place because you will need it later on in the process. Then click on “I’m done here” button.

Step 5. Now you will need to select which app you want to connect ChargeBee with. Select “ChargeBee” from the dropdown menu below “Use a Trigger App” label. Select the app you want to use as the trigger app in the same window as well (in our case it is “Downtime Alert”. Make sure that “Trigger when…” option is selected so that Zapier knows what type of triggers you want it to look for. Finally, select “Create Action” button. This will create a new action which you will need to name before proceeding further. Let’s call it “Integration With ChargeBee” for the purpose of this guide. Then click on “Continue” button.

Step 6. Now you need to choose what data you want to send through Zapier from Downtime Alert to ChargeBee. Click on “Add Field” button and add “Downtime Triggers” from Downtime Alert as one of the fields which you want to use in chargebee integration process. Once you have done that, click on the blue arrow on top right corner of the screen. This will take you back to step 5 where you need to select “Continue” button at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Step 7. Now you have completed setting up an integration between two apps via Zapier! To test if it really works, enter some dummy data into Downtime Alert (for example, entering “Test Test Test”. If all goes well, you should see that information appearing under Chargebee Integration section within 30 minutes of entering that information into Downtime Alert. If the data does not appear within 30 minutes, check if there are any errors in your Zapier account (you can do that by checking your own zaps > settings > error log. If everything seems fine, reach out to us via our helpdesk! We would be happy to help troubleshoot!
