Discord is a free, voice and text chat app that allows its users to create servers and invite friends to join. Users can be part of multiple servers at the same time like a chat room just for you and your friends. You can have one-on-one conversations with people or group chats on a specific topic. Users can create their own unique profile page, fplowing their usernames on other social media sites, like Twitter or Facebook. There are bots available where you can talk to them as if they were real people. Discord also provides a music bot where users can create a playlist and share it with others. There are more than 100,000 servers with over three million people using Discord.
Todoist is a task manager for individuals and teams. They have a built-in calendar and reminders that will send notifications to users about their tasks. They also have features for teams where you can assign tasks to other users and create projects. There is an online editor with drag and drop features available on their website. Todoist is available on many platforms including web, mobile apps, desktop apps, email, calendars and third-party integrations. It is available in 32 languages.
Discord has been integrated with Todoist since mid-2017 and provided the ability for users to add tasks to their task lists. Users can also see what tasks are completed and what ones are left on the list in Discord. With the integration of these two products, you can have a central hub for all your tasks from anywhere as long as you have access to a computer or mobile device. Some people use Discord to manage their workday while others use it for managing personal tasks that they need to complete.
To get started, you need to first link your Discord account with your Todoist account. When you log into Discord, go into Todoist settings under the “User Settings” tab. Then scrpl down until you see “Connect Discord Account”. Click that link and then enter your Todoist credentials. Once you’re done linking your accounts, there will be a small icon next to your user name on Discord which will allow you to turn on the integration between the two platforms. To turn it off, click the icon again or go into Todoist settings in Discord and click “Disconnect Account”.
If you want to add a task to your Todoist list from Discord, you do not have to go through this process again. There is already a bot called @todoist which will do this for you so you do not have to manually type in the link or copy/paste anything. Go into any channel on Discord and type “!todoist add [your task]” without the quotes to add a task to your Todoist list. If you want to add a task to your Todoist list using direct links, go into the Integrations tab in Todoist settings and click the “New Link” button next to “Add tasks via direct link”. Then type “https://discordapp.com/api/webhooks/163358079453729712/add?token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&text=[your task]” without the quotes into the URL bar of your web browser and press Enter. If you are using Firefox or Chrome as your browser, you may need to enable pop-ups for it to work properly. This will only be temporary until you are finished with the integration process so there is no need to enable pop-ups permanently if you don’t want to do that. On Firefox, go into “Tops” > “Options” > “Content” > “Enable Pop-up Windows” and on Chrome go into “Settings” > “Advanced Settings” > “Privacy and Security” and check the box next to “Always Show All Cookies”. You should see the !todoist command in any channel on Discord if everything went well with the integration process.
The biggest benefit of using both Discord and Todoist together is how easy it makes managing your tasks from anywhere even if you don’t have internet access. You can make a task list from your phone while at work or out shopping and then let the integration do its magic when you get back home or connect it with Wi-Fi again. This way you won’t forget any of your important tasks when you get home or load up your list when it syncs up with the server again in case you forget about it or lose track of it somewhere else during the day. Also, if you have an employer who uses Slack for company communication like how many companies use Zendesk for customer service support, you can still keep up with your tasks by combining those two products together as well instead of making another platform spely for managing your tasks and another one spely for managing company communications or customer support requests.
