Integration of Discord and Netlify

Discord is an online chat service built for gamers that allows users to create groups and talk to each other via text, images, video and VoIP. It was launched in May 2015 by Hammer & Chisel Inc. It is a freemium service with a pro version available for purchase.

Netlify is a static web hosting service based in San Francisco, California. Netlify, which offers itself as a platform as a service (PaaS. for deploying and hosting websites, was founded by Matthew J. Otto and received $3 million in seed funding in July 2017. The service uses Git, a distributed version contrp system, to deploy content automatically from GitHub or Bitbucket.

Integration of Discord and Netlify

In order to implement the integration of Discord and Netlify, you have to use Netlify’s Node.js SDK, which will require you to add a few dependencies to the package.json file to start using it. These dependencies are netlify-cli and express . The first one will help you set up and maintain your site on Netlify while the second one will give you access to the command line interface (CLI. Once you have these dependencies added, you can initialize the Netlify CLI by running:

npx netlify init

Once you have initialized your site, you can create a new project by running:

npx netlify init --project-name my-discord-site

This will create a new directory called my-discord-site with some files inside. You can add the Discord client ID and secret key by adding them to the config.js file like so:

Now let’s start creating components! We will be creating four components. An index component that will be used to render our home page, an auth component that will be used for authentication, an embed component that will be used for embedding third-party applications into our site, and a user component that will be used for displaying individual users.
