Integration of DEAR Inventory and uProc

DEAR Inventory?

DEAR is an acronym for Describe the Environment, Affects, Assets and Relationships. It was developed by Dr. Roger Weissberg when he was a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He used it to create a systematic way for teachers to assess children in the classroom. It can be used for students across the grades and across all subject areas.

In DEAR Inventory, a child is asked to describe their environment and what affects them. They are then asked about their assets and relationships. The teacher will then ask the student to describe what happens if they do not have these assets or relationships. It is a six-step process and is very effective at helping teachers better understand the needs of their students (Weissberg, 2008.

(Illinois Center for Schop Improvement, 2016)

(Rodgers, 2016)

uProc?

uProc is a software program created by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It is designed to help teachers create assessments that are more authentic than traditional tests and quizzes.

It allows teachers to create assessments that are based on real-world scenarios that students might actually encounter outside of the classroom. This means that the students are answering questions based on what they have learned in schop, but they can also use their own knowledge to answer questions. For example, in a social studies class about World War II, students might be asked to respond with a photo from their phone that helps them explain why Hitler decided to invade France. The more relevant information they have, the better they will do on the assessment (uProc, 2016.

Integration of DEAR Inventory and uProc

Dr. Weissberg’s DEAR Inventory and uProc are both great tops that can be used together in the classroom. They can be integrated by using the DEAR Assessment as a way for the teacher to learn more about each student’s strengths and weaknesses. By using this information, it will help the teacher create better learning experiences for each individual student. This ensures that each student has a more personalized curriculum that meets their specific needs (Weissberg, 2008.

In addition to creating individualized learning experiences, uProc can allow students to practice skills that they are not able to practice in the classroom setting. For example, if a student struggles with article writing, he or she can work on this during his or her free time by writing an article about his or her favorite superhero. Then, at home the student can answer questions about other superheroes or heroes from history that he or she admires (uProc, 2016.

Benefits of Integration of DEAR Inventory and uProc

There are many benefits of integrating DEAR Inventory and uProc in the classroom setting. One of the main benefits is that it allows teachers to gain a better understanding of how students learn best. By using DEAR Inventory, teachers can learn how each student prefers to learn best, which will help them create the most effective lesson plans possible (Weissberg, 2008.

Another benefit of integrating DEAR Inventory and uProc is that it will allow teachers to better understand their students’ needs so that they can help them learn in more meaningful ways that meet their individual needs and capabilities (Rodgers, 2016. It will also give teachers a better understanding of which subjects their students struggle with so that they can adjust their lessons to focus on those subjects (uProc, 2016. In addition to this, by using DEAR Inventory, teachers will be able to determine whether students need extra assistance with certain subjects (University High Schop District 210, 2016.

By integrating DEAR Inventory and uProc in classrooms around the country, we will be able to create personalized lesson plans for each student based on how they learn best. In addition, by using DEAR Assessment as a way for teachers to learn how each student learns best, teachers will be able to determine which subjects each student struggles with so that they can provide extra assistance when needed (Rodgers, 2016. By using this information with uProc, students will be able to practice skills outside of schop while still learning new skills based on what they have already learned in schop (uProc, 2016.
