DEAR stands for Digital Education and Academic Resource and is a system that maintains a library of academic resources, which can be accessed by students and faculty. It was designed to store the growing body of digital resources in all formats, including audio and video. Most databases are created to help users find a specific item. DEAR Inventory maintains a list of items located at the University’s library. For example, one can search for books in the library using the DEAR database and then request that the book be sent over to the user’s campus location. The database also allows indexing of the full text of documents, including pre-existing databases. This helps students find information from different sources. The database does not contain full texts of academic journal articles. However, it does have DOI information about unlicensed content that can be found through other databases.

  • MySQL is an open source relational database management system (RDBMS. with a multi-user, multi-threaded architecture.
