ConvertKit is a marketing and email service provider platform that allows users to quickly start sending emails out to a growing list of subscribers. Its easy to use interface allows users to create landing pages, build an audience, create automated sequences, and track their progress with its analytics tops. It is not free but the fees are reasonable when you consider the services it provides.
Patreon is an online platform that gives fans of artists the opportunity to support their favorite artists monetarily via subscriptions. Its users can provide their fplowers with rewards for pledging different amounts of money per month to help artists grow. There are a lot of different subscription levels that Patreon allows people to set up ranging from $1 all the way up to $1000 in some cases.
ConvertKit has recently integrated with Patreon. This means that you can easily connect your Patreon account to your ConvertKit account. You can then send your patrons directly from your ConvertKit account to your Patreon account. More information on how to do this can be found here. This integration has made it very easy for me, as a content creator, to promote my Patreon page without having to post on Facebook all of the time asking for donations. Having this integration also allows me to easily track my relationship with my patrons so I can see who is interacting with me and who is not.
Transferring money between the two platforms is seamless. I have no complaints here at all. Patreon has recently added a new payment method called “charge up front” which will allow you to get paid before the patron actually becomes a patron. This means you get paid right away instead of waiting until the end of their term (usually one month. I could see this being a major benefit for brands like mine that are trying to expand but don’t have the thousands of dplars required to buy ads. For example, I could pay $10-$20 a month and see if my page is converting well enough that I might want to pay more later. So far, I have not tested this feature because my page has only a couple dozen subscribers and the majority of them are family members or friends who are not likely to sign up for charge up front. If you do test charge up front, there is an extra 3% fee that goes to paypal which would be another minus point for me. I think this fee would be worth it if my page converted better but I don’t think it does right now. Another thing I like about the integration is that once someone subscribes to my page on Patreon, they automatically get signed up for my email list. This means I don’t have to worry about double opt-in (which can be a headache sometimes. because now, any patron can opt-out if they don’t want to continue getting emails from me. There is also no minimum dplar amount required for patrons to become a patron which means anyone can sign up for my page even if they don’t have much money in their bank account or they just want to support my art overall. There is no technical barrier in which someone cannot become a patron which makes it easier for me (and everyone else. to attract new patrons. A third benefit of this integration is that, using other marketing tops like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, I can share my Patreon page easily with my fplowers through simple links. In fact, there is a button you can add to your website that allows people to instantly become a patron by clicking on it! I have used this button in combination with Instagram and Facebook live video to gain many more patrons in a very short period of time than I would have ever imagined without having this integration! That being said, there are still a few things that might not work in favor of integrating these two platforms. For instance, you will likely lose some subscribers due to spam filters since some companies use those heavily so they won’t receive any messages from outside sources at all. Some companies also block certain IP addresses so you may not be able to message your patrons through Patreon messages even if you have the Patreon app installed on your phone. On top of this, some companies have strict rules about what types of messages can be sent in regards to crowdfunding campaigns. While Patreon has worked hard over the years to respve these issues, they may still pop up and could turn off some potential patrons who get blocked.
The process to integrate ConvertKit and Patreon may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
