Your application can process these pushes or not, depending on your needs.IMPORTANT . Make sure this URL is accessible by anyone who might need it in order for your integration to work properly! This means that if you are developing an application for your company, make sure that the URL where it will be available matches the domain name which will be hosting your application (i.e., if your application was going to be hosted at www.mycompanywebsite.com , then make sure your webhook URL matches that domain.User . This should match the email address of a user who can access your account on Basecamp 3 . If no user is specified here and only an email address is entered, an email will be sent asking the user to confirm access before allowing pushes from Basecamp 3 . Remember that this must be a user who has access to edit projects on Basecamp 3 . App key . This is the API key which allows Webhooks by Connect to send request data from Basecamp 3 . Make sure you keep this key safe because anyone who has it can access your account on BaseCamp 3 . Secret . This is the secret key which will allow Webhooks by Connect to authenticate itself when sending request data from BaseCamp 3 . The secret key is also used for encryption when sending data between servers. After filling out all of these fields, click Confirm in order to save your settings. Then wait for your account settings page on Basecamp 3 to refresh, and you will see that Webhooks by Connect has been added as an integration under the Integrations tab!Now that Webhooks by Connect has been added as an integration in BaseCamp 3 , we can now move on over to our application's code in order to get things working! In order for you application to receive data from BaseCamp 3 , you will need two pieces of information. The first piece of information is BaseCamp's API Key , which is the same as what was entered in Step 7 above when adding Webhooks by Connect as an integration. The second piece of information which you need is the Token which we will use to identify each individual push from BaseCamp 3 . So how do we get these? Go back into your account settings on BaseCamp 3 , click Integrations again under Settings , then click Manage next to Webhooks by Connect . Next, click Show Token next to Push Notifications in order to reveal the token value beneath it (it should read something like. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxx . After clicking Show Token , you will be taken back to your account settings page with the token value still visible under Push Notifications . This value should be copied down somewhere so we can use it later when writing our application's code! Once you have copied down this value, click Close in order to hide the token value once again under Push Notifications .Now that we have all of the information we need in order to set up our application's code, let's get started! All we need in order for our application's code to run properly is three simple steps:

1- Install nodejs using npm install -g node 2 - Install express using npm install -g express 3 - Install body parser using npm install -g body-parser 4 - Install webhooks-by-connect using npm install -g webhooks-by-connect and then npm install --save webhooks-by--connect 5 - Create a file called server.js 6 - Create a file called app.js 7 - Create a file called config.js 8 - Create a file called app-config.js 9 - Edit server.js , app.js , app-config.js , and config.js  10 - Run node server.js  in Terminal 11 - Test out your application by visiting http://yourdomain/webhooks/{token}  from any computer or device connected to the same network as your computer with NodeJS installed! If everything was done correctly, then after visiting the above URL you should see a response from your server saying " Hello world! " after being prompted for your token! NOTE . If you do not see " Hello World! " after being prompted for your token, then check over your server.js , app.js , app-config.js , and config.js files and make sure they match what I have provided above, then try running node server.js  again! Also, make sure that you entered your token correctly when creating the files above! If you still cannot get things working correctly after going through these steps, post in a comment below and I'll try my best to help you out! BONUS . I've also included an example basecamp3-webhooksbyconnect folder with everything setup correctly so you can just download it and run! NOTE . I also included an example basecamperunner folder which contains an example web application powered by ExpressJS which demonstrates how you might run this entire set up with ExpressJS instead of NodeJS !
