Basecamp 3, a project management software application, was released on June 2nd 2015. It was developed by the same company as their previous Basecamp 2 software, 37signals. The release of Basecamp 3 is an attempt to expand upon their previous product by implementing new features and making it easier for users to manage their projects.Basecamp 3 is an online project management software application that allows users to manage all aspects of a project from the same place. This includes managing the tasks of the project, communicating with the team in charge of the project, and keeping track of deadlines and progress. In order to do this, Basecamp 3 requires a user to sign up for an account using an email address and password. From there, projects can be created and users can add tasks to the project. Each task can be assigned multiple tags or categories in order to categorize it for easier management. Within each task, a large amount of information can be added such as a description, due date, priority, who is responsible for completing it, comments, and attachments.A user can also create different sections within each task, allowing the user to organize the information into smaller categories and sub-categories. These sections include things like "To do," "In progress," "Waiting on...," and "Done." When a user is done with a task, they can mark it as complete or delete it from the project. If needed, comments can be added to tasks as well to communicate with other members of the team.Users will find that Basecamp 3 is very easy to use and does not require extensive training in order to learn how to use it. However, there is a larger learning curve associated with understanding the importance of each feature of Basecamp 3 and how it affects each project.There are no limits to the number of projects that can be created within Basecamp 3. Although, there are some limitations on the amount of information that can be placed within each project since there is a limit on how many characters are allowed per post.Basecamp 3 places a large emphasis on social media by allowing users to post updates on Twitter and Facebook directly from their account without leaving the interface of Basecamp 3. Basecamp 3 also features instant messaging through its Basecamp 3 message system. Mail or AOL Mail . For example, if you wanted to send an email with an attachment larger than 50 MB you would not be able to do so with Yahoo! Mail or AOL Mail but you would be able to send it through Gmail.Basecamp 3 and Gmail are two very different pieces of software that do not have any direct impact on one another. However, both companies decided to integrate their products together in order to allow their users the opportunity to further customize their experience with them. By integrating Gmail into Basecamp 3, 37signals has given its users the ability to utilize features such as "Canned Responses." Canned Responses allows users to create pre-written responses that can be used when replying to emails over and over again. This reduces the amount of time that is spent replying to emails since users will be able to send these templates when they receive emails they find themselves sending repeatedly.This integration also allows for Basecamp 3 users to have access to Google Calendar in order to keep track of their appointments outside of Basecamp 3. Because the Google Calendar is linked directly into Basecamp 3, users will be able to view their Google Calendars directly from within Basecamp 3 without having to go to separate website in order to do so.The integration also allows Basecamp 3 users access to Google Drive directly from within Basecamp 3 instead of having to go through another website or download another application such as Dropbox .Several other features have been integrated into Basecamp 3 including. integration with Hangouts for video conferencing, YouTube , Google Maps , Google Docs , Google Sheets , and Google Slides .Conclusion
Overall, I think that both companies made good decisions about integrating their products together because it makes their products more accessible for their customers by streamlining key features that were previously separated between two different applications into one single application. Although it may seem like both companies have made this decision in hopes of increasing sales by providing one simplified solution for all of a customer's needs I think this integration has been around far longer than just recently because I remember using Canned Responses when I first started using Gmail back in 2009 .Basecamp 3's integration with Gmail is definitely beneficial for both companies but at the same time it may not have been beneficial for both companies equally because they are not completely intertwined together despite what they seem like at first glance . This is because although a user may be using both applications at the same time they are not actually using both applications simultaneously . Instead of using them simultaneously, they are only using one or the other at any given time . This means that although they are still using both applications they may only be using one application at any given moment instead of doing things like switching back and forth between applications like they would if they were truly integrated .This also means that Basecamp 3 relies on Gmail far more than Gmail relies on Basecamp 3 . Gmail relies on Basecamp because its users need access to Canned Responses but at the same time it only relies on Basecamp because if it did not have access then its users would still be able to use Gmail normally because they could set up Canned Responses manually instead . This means that although both companies rely on each other they are not dependent on each other because if one company was suddenly taken away then nothing would change for the other company .Therefore, I believe that this integration has been beneficial for both companies because it gives them both something that they need while simultaneously giving them something that they want . It gives Basecamp 3 users an easier way of organizing their emails while at the same time giving them access to Google Drive along with several other Google services . On the other hand, it gives Google additional customers which will help them make more money by charging users for extra storage space or services like Hangouts .I do not believe that this integration has been beneficial for both companies equally because although each company gets something out of this integration they also give something up since they now share customers with each other . Both companies were previously competing over customers so this integration now allows them both to steal customers from one another . This means that although they are now sharing customers with each other neither company is actually gaining more profit than before because although they are sharing customers neither company is gaining any additional profit from having customers who purchase services from all three companies rather than just one .I think that if either company stopped integrating its product into the other company's product then neither company would suffer tremendously . Although it may take some time for each company's customers who use both applications regularly to adjust they would eventually adjust and continue using only one of the services over the other despite no longer being able to use both services together . I think that this integration is beneficial for both companies but at the same time it is not beneficial for both companies equally because although each company gets something out of this integration they also give something up since they now share customers with each other . Both companies were previously competing over customers so this integration now allows them both to steal customers from one another . This means that although they are now sharing customers neither company is actually gaining more profit than before because although they are sharing customers neither company is gaining any additional profit from having customers who purchase services from all three companies rather than just one .
