CloudWatch automatically cplects performance metrics and makes them available via a web service API, allowing developers to programmatically retrieve metrics or push notifications through an HTTP or SNS call. CloudWatch can also send email notifications based on any of these metrics. For example, an administrator can use Cluster Health to view and manage the health of an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC. cluster, determine which nodes are unhealthy, and receive notifications when nodes are added or removed from the cluster.
