The number of tweets sent per day reaches almost 1 billion per day.The following figure shows the number of tweets sent per day till March 2013:C. Integration of Appy Pie and Twitter
In order to integrate Appy Pie with Twitter, a webhook needs to be created using Appy Pie's API. A webhook is a callback function in an API, which gets triggered after the API receives some data. The webhook function processes this data and sends it to another system or store it in a database.Twitter provides an option to receive tweets on webhooks; this is called "webhooks". When a webhook is created, it asks for the URL of the server which should receive the tweets; this server will then process the tweets. This server should have some programming language installed on it and should contain a "webhook" handler (written in that language. In our case, we have installed Python on our server and have written a "webhook" handler in Python. The handler checks for the tweets coming from Twitter and does some operations on those tweets; in this case, we have created a database of Appy Pie products in MySQL which contains details like name of product, price of product, URL of product etc. Whenever a tweet is received by our handler, it checks whether it contains any data related to Appy Pie products; if yes, it adds that data into the database. We use the same method for getting the information about newly launched products of Appy Pie; whenever a new product is launched by Appy Pie, our handler sends us an email containing details of that product. This way we are able to keep track of newly launched products from Appy Pie without visiting its website regularly.
The process to integrate Appy Pie and Twitter may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick solution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
