Amazon SQS is a simple, fast, web-service that allows developers to create queues that can be used to process messages. It is used mainly to build scalable and robust applications. Google Docs is a suite of web-based office tools offered by Google. It allows users to create documents in the form of word processing files, spreadsheets and presentations while collaborating with other users.
Google Docs can be integrated with Amazon SQS to achieve real time document collaboration. In this way, when a user saves or edits a document, it needs not be uploaded to the server for the changes to be visible to the collaborators. Once the document has been saved, an event is generated and stored in the queue. The Amazon SQS service will then send out notifications to the collaborators about the change. If the collaborators have subscribed to the queue, they will be notified about the change and can refresh their view of the document. This integration also makes it easy for users to add more collaborators since any change is immediately visible to everyone. Google Docs can also notify collaborators if a collaborator has changed a document. This notification can be sent through email or by updating the status of the document in Google Docs. A specific URL is shared on which the document can be accessed even if it is offline. This URL can then be shared with others who do not have access to Google Docs so that they can open and edit the document even if they are offline.
