Amazon SNS?

Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS. is a cloud-based service for sending messages to mobile apps, email addresses, and devices. It can be used with other AWS services such as Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon Kinesis, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), or Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3.

Amazon SNS uses web services protocps to send notifications to subscribing endpoints (such as mobile apps, email addresses, etc.), without requiring the source application to be continuously available.

Appy Pie Chatbot?

Appy Pie Chatbot is an app development platform that allows the user to create automated bots using a visual editor, and then connect them with different APIs. Connect any of your preferred backend services like Facebook messenger, SMS, Telegram, Slack, Skype and many more. Appy Pie makes it easy to build chatbots for small business and enterprise scale organizations.

Integration of Amazon SNS and Appy Pie Chatbot

Let’s start off by setting up a chatbot on Appy Pie Chatbot through a step by step process. It will be a simple chatbot in which we will ask the customer if they are able to hear us clearly. For this example, we will use one of our previous projects invpving the 3D printing industry. Let’s get started:

First, head over to Appy Pie Chatbot and select ‘Create a Bot’

Next, enter the Bot name and Description. Select the Messenger platform for your bot and click on Create

Now, you will see the “Edit Mode” of your newly created bot. In this mode, you can edit your bot’s instructions by taking a look at the built-in example

The next step is adding an action that will allow you to ask the user a question or prompt them with a choice. You will find actions by clicking on the ‘+’ button in the bottom right corner of the screen. You will see all the various options that you can choose from for each action. One option that may be useful is “Prompt User”. Click on that option and then drag it into your “Conversation” tab that is located at the top left hand side of the screen

After you’ve added the prompt, you can add your message input box by clicking on the icon that looks like a speech bubble. Place it at the top right hand side of your conversation window so it looks similar to below (it may look slightly different if you are using a different theme than black)

This little chatbot is now ready for deployment! You may also want to add a title or description to your bot so that users can understand what it does. Below is the final product:

Of course, there are many more ways to build upon this simple bot. We can easily add more actions including. “Ask For Number” which prompts the user for a number; “Take Picture” which prompts the user to take a photo; or “Play Media” which will let you play music from your phone! For this example, we will add another action called “Close Conversation” which will close the conversation once the user has completed all of their instructions. You can add this action by going back into Edit Mode and dragging another “Prompt User” action into your window but instead of dragging it into your “Conversation” tab, drag it into your “Actions” tab which is located at the bottom left hand side of your Conversation Window (as shown below)

Once you have added the Close Conversation action, you can edit your text box to say “Are you done?” Then drag this action into your Conversation tab at the very top of your window (as shown below. so that when you publish your bot it can be viewed by users in advance so they know what to expect from it. If you would like to add a title for your bot, click on ‘Add Custom Text’ at the top right hand side of your screen and enter whatever you wish (as shown below)

Finally, click on ‘Publish’ and copy and paste the generated code onto any website in order to launch your chatbot!
