Amazon S3 is a cloud-based storage service offered by Amazon.com. It is designed to make web-scale computing easier for developers. Jira Software Server is an issue tracking and project management tool that is offered by Atlassian. It is used to track issues for a software project.Jira Software Server can be integrated with Amazon S3 to store the data in an offsite location. This allows Jira Software Server to continue working even if the hosting company's network goes down, and it allows Jira Software Server to scale its storage capabilities without increasing hardware or installation costs. It also allows users to use Amazon S3 as a backup solution for Jira Software Server.

After installing the Jira Software Server application, users must set up the integration with Amazon S3. The user must first create a bucket in Amazon S3. The bucket name must contain the domain name of the Jira Software Server site with the suffix "-jira". For example, a bucket named "example-jira" would be created at s3://example-jira. The user then sets up a CNAME record for the bucket. CNAME records are used to redirect traffic from one domain name to another. In this case, the domain name of the bucket (s3.amazonaws.com. will be redirected to the domain name of the Jira Software Server site (example-jira.com. After setting up the CNAME record, users must configure their firewall rules to allow traffic through on port 443, and they must add a certificate to enable HTTPS access to the bucket. Next, users must change the AWS Region where the bucket was created from US Standard to EU (Ireland. The EU region offers lower latency when accessing data from Amazon S3 than the US Standard region does.Once these steps have been completed, Jira Software Server is fully integrated with Amazon S3. It is possible to configure Amazon S3 buckets to automatically back up all of the data stored in Jira Software Server's database whenever new data is added. If something happens to Jira Software Server's hosting provider, then users can restore their data by simply copying it from one of their buckets onto their new server.
