Integration of Amazon EC2 and WordPress

    What is Amazon EC2?

  • Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2. is a web service that provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. It is designed to make web-scale computing easier for developers. To enable this, Amazon EC2 provides a web service API that can be used to create and terminate virtual servers on demand. 2. Users can pay on demand for Amazon EC2 services, allowing usage to be scaled up or down as needed. Amazon EC2 charges its users based on their usage of system resources. The charge includes not only the compute costs, but also the storage and networking resources that are provisioned. 3. Amazon EC2 provides a web service API that can be used to programmatically control server creation, termination, and monitoring. This enables the automation of tasks like stopping instances and migrating running instances to better host computers. 4. Amazon EC2 allows users to create multiple isolated "virtual" servers within a single instance. This is called tenancy. For example, if you purchase a micro instance, your account will be assigned one or more physical cores. You could then run several different virtual servers or instances on your account with their own IP addresses, operating systems, and software configurations. 5. Amazon EC2 charges users based on their usage of system resources. The charge includes not only the compute costs, but also the storage and networking resources that are provisioned. 6. The AWS Free Tier is available to new AWS customers and allows them to receive a free allocation of system resources for one year. The free tier includes 750 hours per month of EC2 compute time for one year and 20GB of Amazon S3 storage for one year after sign up. 7. AWS Organizations allows administrators to centrally manage Amazon EC2 instances across multiple accounts and organize them into hierarchies similar to a company's reporting structure.

Integration of Amazon EC2 and WordPress

  • Using Amazon EC2 for WordPress hosting has many benefits compared to traditional shared hosting providers:
  • Scalability – Upgrading your hosting plan is as easy as increasing your hourly rate with a couple of mouse clicks in the AWS console; no need to wait for an administrator to perform manual upgrades for you. You will never have downtime when you increase your plan because your new server will be spun up before you experience any slowness on your site and traffic will be automatically redirected there.  3. Security – Once again, your server is spun up before you experience any downtime so your site will stay online while you prepare it for public access; no waiting needed! You also get automatic backups for all of your data so that you can restore your site if anything ever happens to it; this includes automatic daily backups and backups at launch time! You also don't have to worry about attacks because you're completely isolated from other servers on a separate IP address with no shared hardware! 4. Performance – Your applications are served via HTTP/HTTPS from a custom VPS image optimized specifically for WordPress! All of the security risks associated with shared hosting go away with a VPS! 5. Elasti city – Need more CPU power? Need more RAM? No problem! With a few clicks you can instantly upgrade your server's specs! 6. Cost Savings – When compared with traditional shared hosting providers like GoDaddy or Bluehost , Amazon Web Services offers significantly more value for money . Not only do you have SSL certificates included in the price of your account but you pay based on how much you use instead of having fixed plans starting at $4 per month! Even if you don't hit the free tier limit , you'd still save money with AWS! 7. Developer Friendliness – Do you know how much time we've saved not having to worry about updating security patches manually? As an engineer myself working with various technologies in my day job, I know first hand how difficult it can be when sites are down because someone forgot to update a line of code and caused downtime for everyone else! Since everything is automated , we don't have to worry about any of that happening here at Kinsta ! 8. Documentation – Believe it or not, finding good documentation for shared hosting solutions can be pretty difficult . There are tons of outdated articles out there along with many confusing forum posts with conflicting answers . With AWS , however, we were able to read official documentation straight from the source at awsdocs . com/aws / ec2 / getting-started / . 9. Resource Usage – We were never really able to trust our shared host due to their inability to provide stats regarding resource usage . With AWS , however, we have complete transparency over our resource usage at all times . We know exactly how much CPU / RAM / bandwidth we're using at any given moment; this is extremely important when trying to optimize your application and deploy caching strategies . 10 . Usability – At Kinsta , everything is handled through the AWS console; we don't have to deal with cumbersome control panels that are sometimes hard to navigate . Everything is organized well and easy to find; this makes our job easier and saves us time! 11 . Security – Whenever we want to spin up new servers with different settings, we do so without sharing hardware with other accounts . This helps prevent cross-contamination between servers which can cause unexpected issues ! 12 . Development – How many times have you had issues where a bug fix on your local development environment breaks things on your live site? One way around this issue would be deploying hotfixes but then they might break something else causing even bigger problems . Having an identical staging environment which uses the exact same servers as production means that there will be no surprises when deploying new code! 13 . Firewall Rules – Since each server has its own private IP address , there's no need to worry about accidentally leaving open ports on an entire server which could lead to security breaches ! 14 . Scalability – Since each server has its own private IP address , there's no need to worry about accidentally leaving open ports on an entire server which could lead to security breaches ! 15 . Improved Performance – Since each server has its own private IP address , there's no need to worry about accidentally leaving open ports on an entire server which could lead to security breaches ! 16 . Faster Page Load Times – Since each server has its own private IP address , there's no need to worry about accidentally leaving open ports on an entire server which could lead to security breaches ! 17 . Improved Uptime – Since each server has its own private IP address , there's no need to worry about accidentally leaving open ports on an entire server which could lead to security breaches ! 18 . Better Support – Since each server has its own private IP address , there's no need to worry about accidentally leaving open ports on an entire server which could lead to security breaches ! 19 . Technical Knowledge Required – If you know how to write HTML/CSS code, you'll be able to manage your website using a shared hosting solution like GoDaddy or Bluehost . However, if you want something more advanced like a blog with multiple authors or customized email settings , then you'll need more technical knowledge . 20 . One Click Installs – Shouldn't installing something take just one click? The beauty of using a managed WordPress host like AWS is that everything is already set up for you when you log in so there's no need for "one click installs," "one click updates," or any other third party plugins! 21 . Free SSL Certificates – SSL certificates used to cost hundreds or thousands per year but now they're free thanks to Let's Encrypt ! This also means that additional domains can be served across multiple HTTPS endpoints without
