Integration of Amazon EC2 and WooCommerce

Amazon Web Services (AWS. is a subsidiary of Amazon.com, which provides on-demand cloud computing platforms to individuals, companies and governments. One of its products is Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2. Amazon EC2 provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. It is designed to make web-scale computing easier for developers. It simplifies the process of setting up, operating, and scaling back up these capabilities.

WooCommerce is a digital e-commerce plugin for WordPress, which allows users to sell anything.

Integration of Amazon EC2 and WooCommerce

Amazon EC2 has several options for deployment. When we are talking about WordPress, the most common way is to use Amazon Machine Images (AMI), which are pre-installed with WordPress and other related software. These AMIs are provided by third party vendors and are free to create, use and reuse. Also, there are some limitations associated with them such as encryption and other features. The ideal solution would be to customize and create our own AMI. The main advantage of using AMI is that it can be launched very quickly when compared to creating an instance from scratch.

Creating an instance from scratch involves several steps like launching an instance, installing necessary software, setting up the database and so on. However, using AMI will save us from all these steps. For example, there are various security groups that we can apply while creating an instance from scratch but not when using AMI. To overcome this limitation, we can create new security group and then add rules to it. The new security group will contain only the rules which are required to secure our instance. This means that we can get the best of both worlds. We can create a customized AMI without any limitations associated with it and launch it quickly by using existing AMIs.
