There are two main components of the SendFox system. The client-side and the server-side. The client-side component consists of the SendFox desktop client, which connects to the SendFox server via a socket connection. The server-side component consists of the SendFox server, which is responsible for sending out alerts to clients. In order to ensure that the SendFox server would not become overloaded with requests, it was decided to use Amazon EC2 to host the SendFox server.
