The Amazon DynamoDB service is a low-cost, fast, and reliable database service for applications that need consistent, single-digit millisecond latency at any scale. To achieve these performance levels, Amazon DynamoDB uses a combination of server-side caching and multi-partition indexing to serve requests from memory on a best-effort basis and from storage only when necessary.
Amazon DynamoDB is designed to provide 99.99% availability with servers distributed globally across multiple Availability Zones (AZs), which are physically separate locations that are engineered to be insulated from failures in other AZs. Amazon DynamoDB automatically replicates your data to three AZs within an AWS Region for high availability and durability. You can also create additional replicas within an AZ or across AZs to meet your specific availability requirements.
Amazon DynamoDB stores data on Solid State Drives (SSDs. that are designed to deliver very high I/O rates with low latency and high throughput under heavy workloads. The combination of SSDs with the server-side caching and multi-partition indexing help Amazon DynamoDB achieve both speed and scale.
Amazon DynamoDB achieves its speed by operating entirely in RAM using in-memory indexes and queries, eliminating disk reads and writes for most operations. This design decision allows Amazon DynamoDB to achieve single-digit millisecond latency at any scale. In addition, the highly available disk storage used for backups, archival storage, and additional copies helps ensure data durability.
Amazon DynamoDB supports two different types of tables. Provisioned Throughput Capacity (PTC. tables and General Purpose (GP. tables. PTC tables have a maximum throughput capacity that you specify when you create them and they are billed based on your provisioned throughput rate. GP tables use the throughput capacity available across all of your tables in your account, allowing you to pay only for the throughput capacity that you actually use. In addition to Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon also offers the Amazon Seller Central (Seller Central. service. Seller Central gives sellers a centralized location to manage their Amazon listings across the full range of Amazon’s marketplaces worldwide.
The integration of Amazon DynamoDB with Amazon Seller Central would also allow sellers to use scripts on Amazon DynamoDB to automatically upload data related to their products into Seller Central such as product titles, descriptions etc., while simultaneously updating product images on Amazon S3 storage space. This would help prevent delays due to manually uploading this information into Seller Central after updating it on Amazon S3. This integration would also reduce human error which has been one of the biggest causes of delayed products being listed on Amazon which has resulted in loss of business for many small sellers in the past.

It is a fully managed NoSQL database service that provides single-digit millisecond latency at any scale with seamless scalability. It supports provisioned throughput capacity (PTC. and general purpose (GP. tables and is integrated with the rest of the AWS services like Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Simple Storage Service (S3), and Elastic Load Balancing (ELB. With these features integrated into one single service it is ideally suited for applications that need consistency, reliability, speed, flexibility, and scalability at any scale.
