    What is Amazon CloudWatch?

Amazon CloudWatch is a cloud monitoring service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS. It allows users to collect and track metrics related to their use of AWS resources such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2. instances, volumes (EBS), Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), etc. This information can then be used to make informed decisions about how to optimize the use of AWS resources in order to lower operational costs.It provides web-based monitoring charts and graphs to help users analyze different data points about their applications. Multiple metrics can be monitored and visualized at the same time.CloudWatch also provides a set of APIs that allow you to write scripts or create applications to retrieve data from CloudWatch and process it.If you want to write a script for getting data from CloudWatch, you can choose one of the following options:- Use the command line interface (CLI. tools- Use the SOAP or XML-RPC APIs directlyTo do this, go to the CloudWatch console, click on "Access" and then click on "CloudWatch API Access":You will then be able to select either SOAP or XML-RPC access:

    Integration of Amazon CloudWatch and Time Doctor

Amazon CloudWatch has a specific metric that allows you to see CPU usage per process running on an instance. This can be very useful when you need to know which process is consuming most of the CPU power. However, it does not tell you which specific task this process is doing (e.g. what code is run. For example, if you have a high CPU usage for one of your servers, you don't know whether it is due to a bad code or if it's due to a spike in traffic on your website.Using the Time Doctor API, we can retrieve this information and use it in our charts. We can do that in any case where we want to see specific tasks done by certain processes (e.g. an expensive code that has been written in Java or Python.Let's say that we want to have a chart showing us how much CPU power is used by certain processes corresponding to our employees' computers:When we are using Amazon CloudWatch (or another cloud monitoring service), we have two options:

1. Write a script directly using the API provided by Amazon CloudWatch:a. First, we need to get the list server IDs:b. Then we need to get the metrics associated with these IDs:c. Finally, we will plot these metrics:d. Using Google Sheets, we will create a chart showing our results:2. As mentioned above, this integration is very useful when you need to know which process is consuming most of the CPU power on your servers. Each process corresponds to one employee and each task performed by this process corresponds to one customer request/action (e.g. accessing your website. This way, you know exactly what happens when certain processes are consuming too much CPU power and which customers are responsible for this CPU usage. As a result, you have more information about which customers are using your services and which ones aren't. This can be very useful when you need to decide whether it would be worth it to lower the price of your services (e.g. some customers are just using your services without buying anything.
