Integration of Amazon CloudWatch and SendGrid

Cloud computing is a new computing model that enables on-demand delivery of IT services such as servers, storage, databases, and applications. It provides IT infrastructure and software as a service (SaaS. to organizations. As businesses need more frequent IT solutions, they can use the cloud as a cost-effective solution. Cloud computing has gained popularity in recent years because it offers better flexibility in resource allocation and higher efficiency than traditional IT systems [1].CloudWatch is one of the Amazon Web Services (AWS. products provided by Amazon. It is a web service for collecting and reporting metrics. CloudWatch collects metrics for Amazon EC2 instances, EBS volumes, Elastic Load Balancers, and Auto Scaling groups [2]. It integrates with other Amazon Web Services such as S3, DynamoDB, RDS, and SQS [3]. CloudWatch provides users with lots of statistics about AWS resources. Additionally, it provides real-time monitoring and helps users analyze historical data to make informed decisions [2].CloudWatch collects metrics about resources that are not covered by other AWS products such as EBS volumes or Auto Scaling groups. CloudWatch can collect any custom metrics. Users can configure the metric name, dimensions, units, and period in which to collect metrics. CloudWatch calculates average values for each metric. Some of the collected metrics include EBS volume space used, CPU time used, number of transactions per second, volume throughput I/O operations per second, etc. [4].CloudWatch has two monitoring levels. the Alarms level and the Metrics level. Alarms are used to notify users when predefined thresholds are crossed. On the other hand, metrics are used to collect information from different AWS resources [5].CloudWatch alarms define thresholds using three factors. metric value, time period, and comparison operator. Metrics can be compared to thresholds using three operators. LessThanThreshold, GreaterThanThreshold, and EqualToThreshold. The comparison operators can be combined to create complex rules such as GreaterThanThresholdOrEqualToThreshold [6].CloudWatch sends notifications through email or SMS. Users can set up their notification preferences using SNS (Simple Notification Service. topic rules [7].SendGrid is a well-known email delivery service provider that was founded in 2009. It also offers email marketing services that help businesses build relationships with their customers online. SendGrid provides free account limits that allow users to send up to 12K emails per month. Paid accounts start at $9/month and offer an unlimited number of emails per month [8]. With SendGrid's free account, users can send up to 100 emails at once without any restrictions on the number of recipients or attachments. In contrast, paid accounts have no limits on recipients or attachments but send up to 500 emails at once only. Free users also receive some limitations on features such as API calls per day. Paid accounts have no API limits [9].SendGrid offers 24/7 support in several ways. phone support from 8 AM to 5 PM (Pacific Standard Time), live chat support from 8 AM to 6 PM (Pacific Standard Time), and an email ticketing system available 24/7 [10].SendGrid is an email delivery service provider that integrates with many third party applications including WordPress e-commerce plugins (WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads), PrestaShop e-commerce platforms, Drupal modules (Views email views), Joomla modules (Joomla mail module), and Magento extensions (eStore. It also integrates with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, MailChimp, Salesforce CRM Partners (Pardot), Stripe, Zendesk, Marketo, HubSpot, Mavenlink, Ontraport, Freshbooks, GoToWebinar, Infusionsoft , Campaign Monitor , Intercom , Balsamiq , Highrise , Pivotal Tracker , Tradeshift , ZOHO CRM , MailerLite , SalesLoft , SurveyMonkey , Shopify , Twilio , Freshdesk , GoCardless , Help Scout , Recurly , FreshBooks , Zendesk , Insightly , ActiveCampaign , Klaviyo , Zoho CRM , UserVoice , SendPulse , Campaign Monitor , Wufoo , Close.io , Dotmailer , Mad Mimi , MyMail Connector , Commentable by Disqus , KISSmetrics , Magento eCommerce platforms (Magento), Oracle Eloqua Marketing Cloud platforms (Oracle), NetSuite eCommerce platforms (NetSuite), Marketo Marketing Cloud platforms (Marketo), Vtiger CRM / Salesforce CRM Partners (Vtiger), Silverpop Engage marketing platform (Silverpop. [11]SendGrid integrates with Amazon Web Services through their AWS Simple Email Service (Amazon SES. product. Amazon SES is a cloud-based email platform that provides fast deliverability at very low latency costs. However Amazon SES is not an SMTP relay service but a delivery service. That means it sends email on behalf of users rather than forwarding their messages to recipients' inboxes. This process helps prevent spam complaints and protects users against spam filters [12].Amazon SES offers some advantages over traditional SMTP services. high deliverability rates and low latency rates. Additionally it stores sent messages in the cloud so that they can be retrieved at any time if needed [13].

The integration of CloudWatch and Sendgrid greatly benefits both vendors because it helps them better monitor their services and provide better customer satisfaction through greater transparency.Amazon CloudWatch gathers data from various AWS services such as EC2 instances, EBS volumes, ELB load balancers and Auto Scaling groups into one location so that businesses can analyze them easily [14]. CloudWatch can integrate with external tools through its API. This integration allows CloudWatch to display statistics from these external tools in its console so that users can easily analyze all their data in one place [15]. This integration also makes it easier for businesses to manage their AWS resources by eliminating the need for multiple logins into different tools [16]. Due to these advantages many businesses are moving to the cloud and adopting cloud computing solutions like Amazon Web Services [17].It is important for businesses to have insight into their resources so that they can better plan future business activities. For example an online clothing store may want to know how much money they may lose if they add more products to their inventory. They may want to know how much sales will increase if they decrease the price of certain products or make other marketing adjustments such as changing their marketing strategy from offline to online marketing [18]. CloudWatch helps businesses gain this insight by providing detailed information about their AWS resources such as network traffic usage statistics gathered by ELB load balancers or disk usage statistics gathered by EBS volumes or CPU usage statistics gathered by EC2 instances [19]. CloudWatch allows businesses to gather almost any kind of metric from any AWS resource so that they can better manage their resources and plan business activities accordingly [20].Cloudwatch provides real-time analysis of resource usage based on past statistics with dashboardsCloudWatch graphs display statistics for additional detailSendGrid provides a variety of features that allow businesses to manage their inboxes more effectively and grow their businesses by improving customer relationships. SendGrid provides free account limits that allow users to send up to 12K emails per month at no cost [21]. Free accounts also do not contain any feature limits so that users can take full advantage of all SendGrid's features [22]. Paid accounts start at $9/month ($49/month for the Enterprise plan. which include unlimited number of emails per month and all SendGrid features excluding premium support [23]. SendGrid's Pro plan starts at $99/month ($249/month for the Enterprise plan. which includes priority support response by email within 1 hour during typical US business hours Monday through Friday 9 AM to 5 PM Pacific Standard Time and by phone at other times plus additional features such as DKIM signing for improved deliverability and anti-spam filtering for primary MX hosts [24]. SendGrid also offers full API access so that developers can integrate SendGrid's functionality into external applications [25]. SendGrid's API supports http requests for GET requests for retrieving information and POST requests for adding new data into its database so that external applications can retrieve information from Sendgrid's database or add new data into its database respectively [26]. SendGrids API is RESTful which stands for REpresentational State Transfer which is a style of software architecture which uses HTTP requests for fetching data from databases using URI links [27]. RESTful APIs follow 6 principles which include. client-server architectures; stateless operations; cacheable information; uniform interface; code on demand;
