Ever wonder if there is a way to combine the benefits of OneNote and Airtable?Airtable and OneNote have some major differences, but they also have major similarities. Airtable is a database program, whereas OneNote is an application. In this article, I intend to compare the two programs, as well as suggest how they could be integrated.Airtable is a database program that allows you to keep track of different categories of information. It allows you to make a table for each category and then fill said table with information. OneNote is a note-taking program that allows you to jot down notes on notebooks, which you can then organize into different sections. As previously mentioned, Airtable and OneNote both allow you to categorize information into different tables. However, OneNote's tables are different from Airtable's tables in that OneNote's tables can be shared among different users. In addition, in OneNote there are multiple pages within each notebook, whereas in Airtable there is only one page per category. Another difference between the two is that OneNote has a search function, which Airtable does not seem to have.OneNote seems like it would be extremely beneficial for a student who wants to take notes in class and then go back and search for specific pieces of information. For example, if a student were taking notes on the anatomy of animals, they could put pictures of different animals in one notebook, and they could then later use the search function to find all of the pictures that they took of mammals. On the other hand, if a student were using Airtable, they would have to go from one table to another to find the information that they wanted. The student would have to list all of their mammals in one table and their reptiles in another table. The problem with this is that the student might accidentally forget to add an animal or two to the appropriate table, resulting in wasted time when trying to search for specific animals.Another benefit of using OneNote is that it allows you to share your notes with other people who are taking the same class as you. This would allow other people who are taking your class to see what you took notes on and they could even add their own notes. If someone asks you a question in class and you don't know the answer, you could look at your notes and try to remember what was said. Alternatively, if someone asked you a question and you didn't take notes, you would have trouble answering them.Another possible way to integrate Airtable and OneNote would be to have Airtable act as a "database" and OneNote act as an "organizer." This would allow students who like OneNote's organizational features to keep their information organized while also giving students who prefer Airtable's database features the option of including their information in their study materials. However, this may be difficult because students would have to remember where they put information every time they used it.Another possible way that OneNote could be integrated into Airtable would be to have Airtable work with Outlook so that students could directly input their homework assignments into their Outlook calendar and then import them into Airtable instead of having to add them manually. Having this integration would allow students to keep track of their homework assignments without having to constantly update their calendar. Furthermore, students could use the Due Date field in Airtable to see when they need to turn in their homework by, instead of having to constantly check their Outlook calendar for due dates. This integration would also allow students to schedule tasks for themselves instead of having to remember when they need to do things.A final way that I can think of that these two apps could be integrated would be for Microsoft Office 365 users to have access to both apps at all times. For example, if someone had access to both apps on their laptop but then went home where they did not have access to either app, they would be able to use any functions from either app that they normally use. This option could also work for someone who only had access to a desktop computer at school but access to only an iPad at home; therefore, if they needed to use both apps during the day but only had access to one at night, they would still be able to complete work on whichever app they needed. This article is just my opinion about how I think these two apps could be integrated. I am not saying that either app should implement anything that I have suggested or anything similar; I am just suggesting ways in which these two very useful applications could be combined so that students would be able to be more efficient with their study materials. Overall, I think that Airtable and OneNote should be integrated because doing so would allow students who prefer each app's individual features access to those features in each app and thus allow them to more efficiently create study materials for themselves throughout their academic career.
