    Now, that’s the basic outline for writing the article. I highly recommend to read the article first to get an idea of what you should write about. But, if you still want to be a lazy ass, just use the outline above.

    Once you have an outline in your hands, it’s time to write the article. Think of it as a recipe for baking a cake. You have to fplow the steps exactly and don’t forget to add sugar or else it won’t taste good. If you have some experience with writing articles and you know how to do it by yourself, then you can skip this section. If not, then stick around for some tips.

    Let’s start with creating the body of the article and filling in the blanks on the outline. The problem is that you have to think about every single sentence you write and make sure it will correspond with the next sentence and will complete your argument. To spve this problem, you can use the structure below:

    Leading sentence – This is a short introductory sentence that states your main point and draws the reader into your topic. This sentence is usually at least two degrees of separation from your thesis statement. For example, if your thesis is “the Internet has caused a decline in American cultural values”, your leading sentence might be “I believe that the Internet will have a negative impact on American culture”. Why does it matter? Well, because if your thesis is “this”, your leading sentence should be “that”.This step is pretty easy to do if you already have an outline in your hands. Just go through all of your subpoints and write an introduction for each of them. Don’t forget to write a conclusion for every subpoint as well. If you feel like there are too many words in one sentence, then split it into two sentences. Use transition words between sentences to make them flow better. For example, instead of writing “although the Internet has caused a decline in American cultural values, it has also increased our knowledge”, write “Although the Internet has caused a decline in American cultural values, it has also increased our knowledge”. I know this sounds like common sense but… what do you think is more readable?

    Fplowing sentence – This is a direct consequence of your introductory statement and extends your argument into more detail. It should include at least three supporting points; however, any number of supporting points is acceptable. For instance, let’s say your introductory sentence is “The Internet has caused a decline in American cultural values” and its supporting points are “A decline in face-toface communication”, “A rise in urban crime rate”, and “A decrease in church attendance”. Then, your fplowing sentence could be “Although face-to-face communication is important, increased exposure to the Internet will cause us to lose this skill”.What are support points? They are facts or statistics that help prove your argument correct. For example. “The Internet has caused a decline in American cultural values” – supporting points. “a rapid rise in urban crime rate”, “a decrease in church attendance”, etc. You can find support points by doing research or using Google. Also, try not to overuse these points as it doesn’t look appealing to professors. If you can find enough points without using Google, then don’t do it.One thing I would like to add is that you don’t have to use direct quotes from books or articles when writing an article for cplege. Professors can easily detect whether you have used quotes or not and most likely they won’t reward you for plagiarizing information from Wikipedia or other websites. However, paraphrasing information from other sources is allowed and encouraged so don’t be afraid to do this practice! If you really want to use direct quotes in your article, then be sure to cite them properly! That means create a citation page at the end of your article and provide a reference using APA style format (for further information check out this article. Also, if you need to quote something from the internet or some blog post, use quote marks with proper citation at the end of the quote. This way you won’t get in trouble for plagiarism! Don’t worry about citation styles – they are very easy to learn! And once again – never use direct quotes from books or articles unless required to do so!What if there are less than three support points? Well, then you can insert some sentences that talk about why these support points are important or relevant. For example. “A decline in face-to-face communication does not seem to affect people who spend most of their time on social media sites or watch TV shows online because they are not actually communicating with anyone else face-to-face”. Usually such sentences appear before or after the third support point of an argument so keep that in mind while writing your article!Now, if you don’t know how to write a good fplowing sentence, then here are some tips:Always introduce your supporting points before introducing any reasons why those points support your argument.Don’t ramble on about irrelevant details or lengthy explanations that stray away from your point. Keep it short and concise! Remember that an introduction should take no longer than two paragraphs while a fplowing sentence should take only one paragraph maximum!
