ActiveCampaign is an email marketing automation platform that allows users to manage their database, send out newsletters, automations and more. It provides customers with a web-based interface for managing multiple users and customer lists. ActiveCampaign also provides users with access to the API so they are able to develop custom features as well as integrate the software with other tops.

Customerly ?

Customerly is a CRM platform that is built on top of ActiveCampaign. Instead of using ActiveCampaign’s website for managing leads and contacts, Customerly customers use a customized website powered by WordPress. This allows users to create custom forms, landing pages and more.

  • Integration of ActiveCampaign and Customerly
  • Integrating ActiveCampaign and Customerly is quite simple. Both platforms can be connected via the API and there are numerous guide on the process. The process of integrating these two platforms is mainly limited by each user’s individual coding skills. There are also some third party plugins that can make the process easier, but they may require a fee when used.

    In order to ensure that each individual gets the most out of our integration we came up with a set of guidelines. These guidelines are meant to help inform you of how you should manage your contact list and helps prevent you from overlooking certain data. The fplowing guidelines will be broken down into two categories, standard guidelines and advanced guidelines. These guidelines will help you get started with setting up your account integration. They are designed to be fplowed in order and help you prepare your account for integration.

    Standard Guidelines:

    • Create Sub-List for Customers - In order to make it easier for you to see your customer data after implementation it is important to create a sub-list within your database. You can do this by creating a sub-list called “Customers” or “Clients” or whatever name you want to use. When populating the list you want to make sure only those contacts who are in fact customers are added to this list. This will allow you to easily filter any customers that have been sent emails by ActiveCampaign in the future by filtering only this cpumn. It will also allow you to easily view all of your customers receiving automated emails from Customerly without having to look through your entire database.
    • Make Sure You Have Split Testing Enabled - You want to make sure that your split testing is enabled within your ActiveCampaign account. This way you will be able to easily test which template works best for each campaign you run through both systems. This will give you the ability to compare totals between templates and campaigns within each system as well as combine them together to get an idea for what lead types perform best where.
    • Create Filters Within Your Customerly Account - Now that you have created your custom list for your customers within ActiveCampaign it is important to create filters within Customerly . These filters will allow you to split out your customers based on behavior, geography, etc. This gives you the ability to segment your lists based on several different factors in order to target them more effectively.
    • Set Up List Naming Convention - With Customerly it is important that you set up an internal naming convention for your customer list within your account settings. By doing this you will easily be able to identify which list belongs to which source within Customerly itself. If possible try and keep your list names similar in format so that it is obvious at a glance which list belongs to which source. This makes it easier when trying to navigate your customer information. Here is an example of a standard naming convention for the Customerly external source type. [Source Name]/[Source Name] – External/[Customer Name]. For example “ActiveCampaign/ActiveCampaign – External/John Smith” would be listed as “ActiveCampaign – External/John Smith” on Customerly .

    Advanced Guidelines:

    • Set Up Smart List Within Customerly – Since you have already created a sub-list within your ActiveCampaign account it is important that you create a smart list within Customerly that targets only those contacts who are on this sub-list. This will allow you to see all of your customers in one place without having to sort through your entire database for them. This list can be set up as either a master smart list or a regular smart list based on your preference. Once this smart list has been created make sure that it is named the same way as described in point 4 above so that it is easy to tell which customer list belongs to which source at a glance.
    • Set Up Filters Within Customerly – Now that you have set up filters within both systems in order to segment your leads based on behavior, geography, etc., it is important that you set up filters within Customerly . These filters should be set up in the same way they are set up within ActiveCampaign . This will allow you to look at all of your different segments from within one platform once again making it easier for you to view all of your data from one location without having to switch back and forth between different tabs and windows. The same naming convention should be fplowed for these filters as well so that they can be identified at a glance when looking at them from inside Customerly . Once again this filter is optional but if possible try and keep them similar in format so that it is obvious at a glance which filter belongs to which segment when looking at them from inside Customerly .
    • Set Up Smart List Within Customerly - It is now time to set up another smart list within Customerly . This smart list should filter based on the same criteria used within your previous smart list which was set up based on customer data within ActiveCampaign . This smart list will allow you to view all of your contacts who are customers of yours but don't appear on any of your other lists inside Customerly . This allows you to view all of what might be considered duplicate data in one place without having to sort through multiple lists in two different places trying to find the duplicates so that they can be removed from one of the lists if necessary. Like before this smart list can be set up as either a master smart list or regular smart list based on preference. Once this smart list has been created make sure that it is named the same way as described in point 4 above so that it is easy to tell which customer list belongs to which source at a glance in case there are multiple customer lists inside of Customerly .
    • Create Contact Forms/Landing Pages/Sidebars - Now that all of this data has been integrated into one platform it is important that everyone start taking advantage of it. One way this can be done is by creating contact forms, landing pages or sidebars with links back into ActiveCampaign or Customerly depending on what platform they landed on first when they clicked a link from an email sent through ActiveCampaign . This will allow users such as yourself who are sending out newsletters or something like a press release or other marketing material through ActiveCampaign a chance to gain more subscribers or customers by targeting those leads directly instead of waiting until they come back after clicking one of the links in the email they received in their inbox. By placing these links strategically throughout your website/landing page/sidebar you will be able to increase the number of leads coming back into both platforms increasing the amount of data available for analysis and segmentation purposes.
