ActiveCampaign, a marketing automation platform and Appy Pie, the smart app builder, are two of the most powerful digital tops for small businesses. This article will outline how to integrate ActiveCampaign with Appy Pie and the benefits of this integration.
In order to integrate ActiveCampaign with Appy Pie, both platforms need to be connected to each other. For this connection, an active account is necessary in both ActiveCampaign and Appy Pie. After logging in to the two platforms, select the “Integrations” option from the top of the left panel. From there, choose the “Connect” button. The Appy Pie platform will prompt you for permission to access your account, after which you will be forwarded to ActiveCampaign’s permissions page. Once the two platforms have been integrated, you will be able to send notifications to your users by integrating ActiveCampaign with Appy Pie.Once the two platforms are connected, you can begin to integrate them. The first step is to create a campaign in ActiveCampaign. Choose the “campaign” option from the top of the left panel and then choose the “Create new campaign” option. This will take you to a pop-up where you can enter a campaign name, select the template you want to use, and set the budget, date range, and a start date. After this, you can add an objective by selecting the “Add objective” option. This will bring up a drop-down menu where you can choose between “Views”, “Form Submissions”, and “Page Views”. Once you have chosen an objective, select the “Save” option at the top of the screen.Once your ActiveCampaign campaign has been created, you can then begin creating specific goals within that campaign. Goals are essentially markers that tell you when a certain type of action has been completed or not completed. For example, if you want to track when someone clicks on a link in your email or opens your app on their device (which is what we will cover here), then you would create a goal in your campaign. Select the “Goals” option from the left panel and then choose the “Create new goal” option. This will take you to a popup where you can enter a goal name and select the type of goal you want to create (in this case, we are creating a “Views” goal. You can also select whether or not you want the goal to be “manual” or “automatic”. Manual goals are ones that only you can check off once they have been completed while automatic goals are ones that are automatically marked as complete when they have been completed. In this example, we will create an automatic goal. Once all of this information is entered into your goal, select the “Save” option at the top of the screen.Once your goal has been created in ActiveCampaign, it is time to connect it to your Appy Pie app. To do so, go to your app in Appy Pie and select the button labeled “Integrations” in the top left corner of the app builder screen. From there, select the “ActiveCampaign” option from the list and click “Connect”. Your screen will switch over to ActiveCampaign where you can give Appy Pie permission to access your account. Once granted permission, return to Appy Pie and click on “View Access Key”. This will take you back to ActiveCampaign where you will be given an access key for your ActiveCampaign account that can be used by Appy Pie for integration purposes. This access key is automatically generated and may change over time, so it would be best to bookmark this page or copy the key as you may need it again later on down the road if you want to re-integrate your accounts. Once copied or stored away safely, go back to your app screen in Appy Pie and paste in your access key into the space provided for it under Appy Pie Integration Key. Now that your access key has been entered into Appy Pie, it is time to link it up with your goal that was created in ActiveCampaign earlier on. Go back to your ActiveCampaign campaign and click on your goal that was created earlier on in these instructions (in our example, we created a “Views” goal so we would click on that goal. You will see an option on this page entitled “App Integration” where you can either choose “None” or “Appy Pie” from a drop-down menu. Selecting “Appy Pie” will take you to a screen where you can enter your Appy Pie app ID (which can be found on one of your app screens. into a blank space on the page and select whether or not this goal should be tracked as successful or failed (you can also choose whether or not it should mark as successful when viewed through an iOS or Android device. Once all of this information has been entered into ActiveCampaign, select “Save Changes” at the top of the page. Now that your goal has been linked up with Appy Pie in ActiveCampaign and is ready to go, we need to create a campaign in Appy Pie that will actually trigger this integration. Select “New Campaign” from the left panel and give your campaign a name and description (as well as opting for any other features like social sharing buttons or text messages. Next, select whether or not your campaign should trigger immediately upon creation or at a later date; if choosing a later date then select how many days out from creation it should trigger by selecting a number from 1-45 days from creation. Once all information has been filled out on your campaign page, click on the button labeled “Create Campaign” in order to save all of this information..Now that we have our campaign created in Appy Pie and ready to rpl out to our target market, we need to create a workflow in our campaign that will send out our emails through ActiveCampaign rather than through our own system directly; otherwise known as triggering externally rather than internally.. Select "Workflows" from the top of the left panel and then choose "Create New Workflow". This will bring up a pop-up window where you can select which trigger should activate this workflow; in this case we want our workflow to kick off whenever someone visits our website (either directly through our site or through a link. Once selected, choose which actions should happen once our trigger is activated; since we are using ActiveCampaign in this example, choose "Send Email". This will bring up another pop-up where you can enter an "Email Subject" for your email (this subject line is what shows up in people's inboxes when they receive your email), as well as choosing which email address should be sent out through ActiveCampaign; enter whatever email address(es. should receive this email fplowed by @activercampaign.com (in our example we want all emails sent out through ActiveCampaign regardless of who they are sent out to so we put @activercampaign.com directly into this field. Once you've entered all necessary information for this part of your workflow, select "Save Changes" at the top right of your screen.Once saved, click on "View Workflow" from underneath "Workflows" on your left panel; this will take you back to your workflow's edit page where we will set additional actions to happen after our main sending action has happened.. Since we want our workflow to perform another action after our sending action happens (in this case sending out our email), at this point we have three options. wait until someone marks our email as read (in order for an email sent via ActiveCampaign to be read by recipients), wait until someone clicks on a link inside our email (to track views for links inserted into emails sent via ActiveCampaign), or wait until someone opens our app (to track views for apps integrated with ActiveCampaign. We want clicks on links inside our email so we will choose "View Link Clicked" from underneath "Conditions" on our right-hand side cpumn; now we just need to choose what link we want this workflow to track clicks for; in this case we want it to track clicks on links within any emails sent through our account so we put "@appy_io" into the space provided for "Link Name" (you can put whatever link name you want here so long as it matches what is listed in your link destinations settings for your campaigns inside ActiveCampaign. Now scrpl down until you find "Actions" underneath "Conditions"; click on it and
