Integration of Shift4Shop (formerly 3dcart. and SMTP by Connect is quite easy. When you install the extension, it automatically creates a new SMTP server for you in your Connect account. You can then connect it to the 3dcart store, where you need to configure the fplowing:

  • SMTP server details - enter your Connect credentials and your domain name under "Domain" and set "Port" to 587 if you use SSL or 25 if you don't.
  • SMTP Server authentication - select "Logged in as current user".
  • Mail Sending Settings - leave as default options.
  • Email Sender - choose whether to use your 3dcart store address or any other address that you may have. If you use any other address, then enter it under "Email sender." Make sure that this email address is whitelisted on all servers where your emails will be delivered. Otherwise, your emails will not be delivered and bounce back to the 3dcart store. For example, if you use gmail to send emails, make sure that gmail is whitelisted on all mail servers.
  • Under Advanced Settings, leave all settings as default except for "SMTP Connection Timeout (seconds)". This should be set to 30 seconds. This will ensure that changes in your Gmail or other email account take effect quickly enough.
  • Finally, click the Save button at the bottom of the screen and then click Send Test Mail. Check whether the test message is delivered successfully. If not, check the logs in your Connect account for more information about any errors. Then repeat steps A to E with different settings until you find one that works for you. Once you are ready with the settings, click the Save button at the bottom of the screen to save them permanently in your Connect account. That's it! From now on, all email messages sent by the 3dcart store will be sent through your Connect account with SMTP by Connect instead of using the 3dcart store's default SMTP server. Your emails will appear in your 3dcart store under Sent fpder with the name of SMTP by Connect.
