Integration of 3Dcart and Mailgun

Integration between 3Dcart and Mailgun can be done using API in both application. For this article, I am going to use the default modules of 3Dcart i.e. Sales, Customers, Orders and Products.If you are using 3Dcart as an ecommerce website builder, there is no need to integrate with Mailgun because it comes with built in module to send out email to customers.However, if you want to send out email or newsletters to your customers or even use email as a marketing top, then you may need to integrate Mailgun with your webstore.You can do this by enabling the Email module in your Admin panel > System Setting > Email Configuration .The Email Configuration window will appear. Here, you need to fill up the fplowing details. Your SMTP Server, Port, Encryption Type(TLS/SSL), Authentication method (SMTP Auth or POP before SMTP), Username and Password.The next step is to create a new Email template. You can do this by clicking on Add New Template .The template wizard will appear. You will need to fill up the fplowing fields. Name, From Address, Subject, Body Text, Attachment and Preview Image. For the body text, you can either write an email from scratch or you can copy and paste the contents of your email template from Mailgun into the body box. If you would like to have a preview image attached to the email, you can upload an image file into the Attachment box. After filling up all the details in the wizard, click on Save .Now that we have enabled the Mailgun module in our store, we can leverage on its features through our Admin panel > System Settings . Click on the Email tab and fill up the fplowing fields. From Address, Custom Header Name , Custom Header Value , Reply To Address and BCC Address .The From address field is where you will enter the mailing address for your store. The Reply To Address field is where you enter the address where your customers should reply to your email. The BCC Address field is where you enter the mailing address for your customers' reply email.After filling up all these details, click on Save .Let us now move on to creating a new product category for our store. This will help us test our integration with Mailgun. As an example, let us create a new product category called "Test Category". To do this, go to Product Categories > Add New Product Category . Fill up all the details for your new category and click on Save .Now that we have created a new category for our store, we need to add products into it. Go to Products > Add New Product . Fill up all the details for your new product and save.Now that we have added a product into our store, we can now configure it for sending out emails when customers purchase it. Go to Orders > View All Orders . Choose the order which has the product you want to configure for sending out email. Click on Configure Order Emails .Click on Add New Email Template . Choose the product that you previously added and click on Save . The email configuration window will appear again. Choose the format that you want for your emails. In this example, we are going to use HTML format for our email template. Click on Save .The template wizard will appear again and this time, choose one of your existing Email templates from Mailgun as shown below:Fill up all the details according to the type of email template that you choose earlier and click on Save .Now that we have enabled system wide auto responder feature in our store, we need to configure individual products so that emails are sent out when they are purchased by customers. To do this, go back to Products > View All Products . Choose a product which you want to configure for sending out emails and click on Configure Product Emails .Click on Add New Email Template . Choose one of the existing templates from Mailgun and click on Save . Repeat steps 7-10 until you have configured all the products that you want to be sent out as emails from your webstore.Now that we have configured our webstore and products for sending out emails when purchased by customers, all that is left is to test our integration with Mailgun by purchasing a product from the store. When you complete the purchase process, an email will be sent out from Mailgun from with information about your purchase as shown below:Now that we have confirmed that our integration with Mailgun is working properly, we can now utilize its features such as Bounce Management , Campaigns , Dynamic Content , Feedback Management , Image hosting , Webhooks etc... for our store by visiting its features page at https://www.mailgun.com/features/ .
